I’m back with a monthly round-up of UK adventures that I’ve either done or am about to say I’ve done. With Britain suddenly threatening temperatures above 18 degrees again, now feels like the right time for us all to start plotting some summer adventures.

If you’d like to support what I’m building with Outside Kids and unlock the Dadventures Map with every trip pinned in one place, you can become a paid supporter here for roughly the price of a disappointing service station coffee each month.

Happy exploring!

BOTHY
Sleep in a Bothy on the North Devon Coast

Stay where the entertainment is basically reduced to fire, sea swims, rock pools and staring at weather rolling in like a 19th century lighthouse keeper.

📍 Peppercombe Bothy, North Devon
⏱ 1–2 nights
🥾 Short walk-in access
👶 Best for all ages
🗓 Anytime
🔗 Book here
🍺 Best pub: The Hoops Inn

Tucked away in a steep wooded valley outside Bideford, Peppercombe looks like the sort of place you’d stumble across while hiding from the law. With no electricity, heating or phone signal, the stone bothy itself is basic and that is exactly the point: raised sleeping platforms, running water, a firepit outside and a compost loo.

Peppercombe has just become the very first official CampWild Bothy, with bookings opening on Monday 25th May for selected dates from June onwards. Which means there’s currently a very small window where you can still get in before every outdoorsy parent in Britain clocks onto it. Godspeed!
